SCIENCE RESIGNS THOMAS ROBINSON
Mike Stewart Science is proud to
announce that it has resigned exuberant phenom Thomas
Robinson to the label for another year

Thomas has been on fire this past
year and continues to blow doors in the line-ups around his new home of
the south coast. He has been shooting a stack of footage around
Australia for upcoming films “Thrash” and “Hello”, which he will feature
heavily in, not to mention being in the firing line of many of the top
photographers lenses in his travels.
Science Brand
manager Chris Apps said “ We are stoked that Thomas has signed on to
ride for the brand again as we believe that he is arguably one of the
best riders in the world today not only that he also oozes style and
personality out of the water, a trait many other riders are lacking in
this day and age.

“I am stoked to continue riding for
Science, the products are second to none and the brand is constantly
moving forward with design and innovation. Everything I’ve achieved in
bodyboarding has been branded with Science in some way. We've got a good
thing going on and it is only getting stronger, I’m amped for the year
ahead” Thomas said.
Thomas new 08 board models, TR LTD,
TR Polypro and TR Dow will be available in stores throughout Australia
within the next week.

Mike Stewart Science is owned and
operated by Mike Stewart. All Mike Stewart Science products are designed
out of necessity and tested in the toughest conditions worldwide to
ensure that you are getting the most functional equipment on the market
today. For further information, contact JPI Pty Ltd on (07) 56658333.

We just interviewed master shaper Dan Sivess the
other day and eventually posted
the whole interview online
today. It’s a long and interesting interview, we talked about everything
from shaping to managing a whole bodyboard factory to living abroad in
Indo and we were lucky enough to have Dan answer all our questions and
taking the time to do this really well. If you never heard of Dan before
(which we doubt) then you need to read this interview coz Dan is the man
behind a lot of boards on the market and specially behind the PLC boards
from VS. If you already know Dan, then you know that he’s more than just
another shaper and his job is far from your traditional shaper’s job.

USBA_SANDY BEACH PRO_FINAL UPDATE
Jul 4, 2008
6/23/08
EVENT: The Senor Frog 2008 Sandy Beach Pro
Presented by: The Hawaii National Guard & SCION Hawaii
Location: Half Point Sandy Beach Oahu
Sponsors: Senor Frogs, National Guard, T & C, Vitamin Water, Star
101.9,Wahoo's tacos. Alohagifts.com,
swellinfo.com,
Kicks Fins, Elmnop, NMD & SCION Hawaii
The 2008 Senor Frogs Sandy Beach Pro went off without a hitch this
past 4th of July weekend. Over 80 competitors came out to test their
skills at Half Point the world famous reef break on Oahu's south
shore.
Both days of the two event where started with amateur rounds with many
amazing rides by newcomers like Alex Brown, Matthew Holtman, Bubu
Casamerio and many more. The Amateurs gave the Pro's a heads up to
where the future of the sport is going with consistent surfing through
out the two days.
The 13- 18 AM division was one by Alex Brown narrowing out his Kauaian
friend Matthew Holtman by 2 points. Trevor Cam and Alan Lamphere
followed up with the 3rd and 4th sport respectively in the final.
Next in line where the Open Am heats in which another Kauaian Travis
Smith made an impression while JB Hillen from the Westside of Oahu
made a big push on to the USBA with his first USBA event!
The final of Open Am saw Oahu's Reis Yonherio taking 4th which a great
performance both days, followed by JB Hillen in 3rd. The top two spots
went to Kainoa Behasa and winning Travis Smith, which went along way
to build their credibility for the future.
The DK Pro was an all out war to the finals with the best of the best
battling it out in all different tidal and wave conditions that both
days provided. Main standouts where as always Bud Miyamoto & Dave
Hubbard followed by Robbie Gall, Keegan Yuson who all just happened to
be in the finals as well. It was Bud who made it happen
At the Sandy Beach Pro once again with his huge floaters and backside
barrel riding skills, right behind him was Robbie Gall, Dave Hubbard
and Kegan Yuson in that order to fill out the final placing.
The Women's Pro was as hard hitting as can be with Claudia Ferrari
once again taking out the event as she had done so in 2006. Other big
standouts where finalists Aki Oguda (4h place), Aiaki Ancheta (3rd
place) and Leila Alli (2nd place) who all put it on the line
throughout both days of the contest!
The ever so competitive and fun standup division was taken out by none
other the Noah Murray from Kauai who had landed a stand up air to win
his final.
The most sought after title to the Senor Frogs Sandy Beach Pro is the
Men's Pro division. It is a proven fact that the USBA riders want to
win this event badly as we had Jeff and Dave Hubbard fly over night
from Australia to get through customs only 40 min prior to their heats
just to make it to the event. Not only did these two make it happen
with their schedules but they made it happen in the water with Dave
Hubbard and Jeff both putting on amazing shows throughout both days.
Dave ended up winning the entire event with two amazing barrel riders
in the final to roll spin combos. A on fire Jacob Romero (2nd Place)
took his campaign all the way to the finals, along with Paul Benco
(3rd) & Spencer Skipper (4th)
A huge thank you goes out to Senor Frogs, Hawaii National Guard, SCION
Hawaii, Vitamin Water, Wahoo's Tacos and Star 101..9 for making this
event a reality once again in 2008!

Manta News

Gold Coaster Tom
Smith has spent the last week hanging out at Manta HQ working with
Manta shaper/team manager Reon Fisher on some new rides. Tommy is
gearing up for his upcoming trip to Japan, where he will be competing
in the Manta Emotion Cup held 26th and 27th
July, Fukushima, Japan.
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=LQomXqIlAfM and also the Morey
Flipper Cup held in Chiba, Japan.
Reon commented. “The
purpose of Tom’s trip to Japan is not only for the promotion of Manta
but to encourage more Japanese males to take up the sport of
Bodyboarding. Japan is one of the only countries in the world where
Bodyboarding is heavily female orientated. I think Tommy will be able
to show case to the Japanese the more hardcore technical aspect of the
sport that will hopefully encourage more males to the sport.
Originally we had planned for John Showell to go over for the events,
but we didn’t want to disrupt his Shark Island training. Tom became
available for the trip and we thought the Japanese girls will love his
blond wig, ha ha. It should be fun times for Tom as he is the face of
the contest.”
Tom commented. “My
original plan for my trip to Cronulla was qualify for the Island
contest. After a 3rd round bomb out I was devastated. When
Reon told me about the Japan trip I was amped on the idea. I now plan
on focusing all my energy that I had planned for the Island into
taking out the Japan events. I got on some new boards so I am chomping
at the bit to get them in the water and get ready for Japan.”
Check out the
footage of Tom and fellow Manta team mates John Showell and Dave
Crowley tearing on a trip they did to the South Pacific in 07”
