DKS TIONA AND PORT MAC WINNER BUD MIYAMOTO. Pic Ash Murray Hawaiian Bud Miyamoto has taken a memorable win in this year’s Sundowner DKS Port Mac event. Bud stormed through all of his heats and into the final collecting a perfect 10 along the way. Bud also created history for not only the Sundowner DKS Tiona event, but also the Sundowner DKS Port Mac event by not dropping a single heat and taking the honors this year as DKS Champion infront of another world class field including 2x DKS winner Mason Rose. Along with Bud’s crazy feat, DKS witnessed one of the closest heats in the quarter finals with Jake Sharp, Mason Rose along with Bud all scoring perfect 10’s in the same heat! But with only 2 scoring waves it came down to breaking apart the 3 riders by less then a point, which was just devastating for Jake Sharp who missed out on progressing through the heat. Other notable heats saw the return of one of the pioneers of DK in Australia, Aaron “changa” Matthews making a huge impact for the first few heats along with Adam Murray who just run out of steam in the semis. Queensland’s Dane Pope secured his second DKS final in a row, after some solid early heats, picking up a 3rd place for his efforts and young gun Keegan Cronin placing 4th in his first ever DKS final. “This has been one of the craziest DKS events in the 7 years of contest and it just shows the quality of the riders we are attracting to this event” organizer Clayton Pickworth said. “I pretty much had everyone come up to me and say how much they enjoyed watching the guys surf and how crazy the moves are getting now the competition is becoming so fierce” Pickworth said. “plus I heard someone say that Bud pulled a air reverse in his quarter final so he is really stepping it up”. “It also kept the judges busy this year and head judge Maurice Wakeling mentioned to me that it was doing his head in seeing how good the quality was, so that’s really pleasing for me” Pickworth said. The presentation was unreal with DJ Maths and the BBoys busting out after the results were done then everyone just got loose! But as per usual we have to finish up by thanking so many great supporters of these events and they are Sundowner Holidays, Turbo Surf Designs, BSC, Liquid Malisha, Quantum Assessments, No*Clones, the PMBA Club and the Hastings Old Holdens who supplied their classic old cars for the free taxi service. Anyone else who just lent a hand or made things happen thanks heaps!!

2ND AUGUST SUNDOWNER TIONA 9TH AUGUST SUNDOWNER PORT MAC
The world’s biggest DK riders from around the globe will be descending on the first event at Sundowner Tiona placed in the wave haven of Pacific Palms, Forster. With guys like Micah McMullin and Colin Black representing Hawaii and loads of aussie lads like Jake Sharp and young gun Keegan Cronin set to do battle, its looking like a great draw for both events. Organiser Clayton Pickworth mentioned that the numbers are looking the goods so far, “Yeah we already have more numbers than last year at Tiona and it looks like healthy numbers again for the Port Mac comp so it’s all good”. “Waves along the coast have been pumping over the last week so things are set for an awesome battle between the guys”. Maurice Wakeling will head up the judging panel with his vast experience and knowledge of the jack stance along with international judges from Peru and experienced locals like Ash Murray. “I really wanted to mix it up with the judges this year, and to have some oldschool dk riders like Ash involved is certainly pleasing” Pickworth said. Riders will assemble this Friday arvo at Sundowner Tiona for a meet and greet BBQ and the announcement of the heat draw. Then around 7am Saturday morning the contest will kick off, then the presentation that night back at the park.
DKS HOODIES WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE AT THE COMPS It has been reported also that Town Beach in Port Mac is under some dune reconstruction at the moment and beach access is limited. “Yeah its barrier taped at the moment but I am working on council to have some sort of access ready for the contest” Pickworth said. As usual contests like this only happen with good support and the people getting behind this years events are Sundowner Holidays, Turbo Surf Designs, BSC, Liquid Malisha and Quantum Assessments. Anyone still wishing to enter needs to get online and download an entry form from www.dksessions.com and send it in ASAP as there are still some spots available. ********************************** USBA Imperial Beach Chalet Pro DK Pics

*********************************************** SUNDOWNERHOLIDAYS.COM DROPKNEE SESSIONS WORLD TOUR PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DYLAN LEE WINS DKS PORT MAC The second event on the sundownerholidays.com Dropknee Sessions World Tour hit Port Macquarie on Saturday at the infamous Breakwall right in the centre of town. With waves around the 4ft mark and overcast conditions it was always going to be a battle of the fittest with a huge run out tide testing all riders for most of the day’s competition. The contest kicked off with a moving tribute to local bodyboarder Ben Hall who was tragically killed in a bike accident in Bali only a few days ago. With riders from all around the globe on hand for the big event, it was the aussie contingent who pulled rank throughout the heats and into the finals but not before some of the big names bit the dust in the early rounds with 2 time DKS winner Mason Rose being eliminated in the quarters along with World No4 Pancho Galdos. This meant that DKS Tiona event winner Grant Molony was to join an inform Dane Pope from QLD, Justin Welsh from Victoria and new kid on the block Dylan Lee, also from QLD in his first final. From the outset it was clear the waves in the final were fading fast and getting in some early scoring waves would prove the difference and that’s just what happened for Dylan Lee. Dylan helped himself to some of the more rideable outside peaks scoring a 9.2 first scoring wave to help set himself up to take home the title, but he was certainly pushed all the way by a determine Dane Pope, also in his first DKS final. Dane bashed one of the biggest moves of the contest in the final, cranking out a massive snap-reverse on a heat winner but just came unstuck at the end leaving the door open for Lee to take the spoils and his maiden win at the DKS event and on the tour, collecting some valuable tour points for the 07 season. At the presentation Lee said “I’m not sure what to say cause I’ve never done this before”. After being showered with champaign and collecting his winnings, Dylan and the DKS crew were stylishly chauffer driven into town in classic ‘Old Holden’s’ with AC/DC pumping in the background, all thanks to the Hastings Old Holden’s car club. The tour now heads to Miyazaki Japan in October and then finishes up in Hawaii for the final event in December/January.
