![]() ![]() ![]() SCIENCE RESIGNS THOMAS ROBINSON Mike Stewart Science is proud to announce that it has resigned exuberant phenom Thomas Robinson to the label for another year
Thomas has been on fire this past year and continues to blow doors in the line-ups around his new home of the south coast. He has been shooting a stack of footage around Australia for upcoming films “Thrash” and “Hello”, which he will feature heavily in, not to mention being in the firing line of many of the top photographers lenses in his travels. Science Brand manager Chris Apps said “ We are stoked that Thomas has signed on to ride for the brand again as we believe that he is arguably one of the best riders in the world today not only that he also oozes style and personality out of the water, a trait many other riders are lacking in this day and age.
“I am stoked to continue riding for Science, the products are second to none and the brand is constantly moving forward with design and innovation. Everything I’ve achieved in bodyboarding has been branded with Science in some way. We've got a good thing going on and it is only getting stronger, I’m amped for the year ahead” Thomas said. Thomas new 08 board models, TR LTD, TR Polypro and TR Dow will be available in stores throughout Australia within the next week. Mike Stewart Science is owned and operated by Mike Stewart. All Mike Stewart Science products are designed out of necessity and tested in the toughest conditions worldwide to ensure that you are getting the most functional equipment on the market today. * Arica Challenge Chile * We just interviewed master shaper Dan Sivess the other day and eventually posted the whole interview online today. It’s a long and interesting interview, we talked about everything from shaping to managing a whole bodyboard factory to living abroad in Indo and we were lucky enough to have Dan answer all our questions and taking the time to do this really well. If you never heard of Dan before (which we doubt) then you need to read this interview coz Dan is the man behind a lot of boards on the market and specially behind the PLC boards from VS. If you already know Dan, then you know that he’s more than just another shaper and his job is far from your traditional shaper’s job. Gold Coaster Tom Smith has spent the last week hanging out at Manta HQ working with Manta shaper/team manager Reon Fisher on some new rides. Tommy is gearing up for his upcoming trip to Japan, where he will be competing in the Manta Emotion Cup held 26th and 27th July, Fukushima, Japan. http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=LQomXqIlAfM and also the Morey Flipper Cup held in Chiba, Japan. Reon commented. “The purpose of Tom’s trip to Japan is not only for the promotion of Manta but to encourage more Japanese males to take up the sport of Bodyboarding. Japan is one of the only countries in the world where Bodyboarding is heavily female orientated. I think Tommy will be able to show case to the Japanese the more hardcore technical aspect of the sport that will hopefully encourage more males to the sport. Originally we had planned for John Showell to go over for the events, but we didn’t want to disrupt his Shark Island training. Tom became available for the trip and we thought the Japanese girls will love his blond wig, ha ha. It should be fun times for Tom as he is the face of the contest.” Tom commented. “My original plan for my trip to Cronulla was qualify for the Island contest. After a 3rd round bomb out I was devastated. When Reon told me about the Japan trip I was amped on the idea. I now plan on focusing all my energy that I had planned for the Island into taking out the Japan events. I got on some new boards so I am chomping at the bit to get them in the water and get ready for Japan.” Check out the footage of Tom and fellow Manta team mates John Showell and Dave Crowley tearing on a trip they did to the South Pacific in 07” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKHayqbFdXI footage shot by Todd Barnes. Tom Smith TRS model in stores from now. RRP-$319.95 For more info go to www.manta.com.au
